CHAPTER COMMUNITY LEADERS – Make a Local Impact
If you want to strengthen your local jewelry community, consider serving as a Chapter Community Leader.

What It Means: Plan events, welcome and engage members, and create opportunities for networking and professional growth within your chapter.
- Experience Needed: Passion for connecting with peers locally; must be a WJA member in good standing; no prior board experience required.
NATIONAL WORKING BOARD – Guide WJA’s Future
The National Working Board brings together leaders who actively shape WJA’s strategy and help turn vision into action across all chapters.
- What It Means: Provide leadership, collaborate on strategy, represent members’ needs, and actively participate in national initiatives and projects.
- Experience Needed: Over a year of active membership (must be in good standing), leadership experience recommended; ability to think big-picture about WJA’s role in the industry.
FOUNDATION BOARD – Drive Philanthropic Change
The Foundation Board advances WJA’s philanthropic mission by fueling scholarships, grants, and education programs.
- What It Means: Lead fundraising initiatives, cultivate donor relationships, and champion opportunities that empower the next generation.
- Experience Needed: Active member in good standing, passion for fundraising, understanding of the philanthropy space, prior board experience preferred (preferably with a 5013c nonprofit).
Responsibilities & Expectations (All Roles)
Board and Leadership Members Are Expected To:
- Attend meetings and actively contribute to discussions.
- Serve on committees or working groups as needed.
- Dedicate time and talent to advancing WJA’s mission.
- Champion fundraising efforts as a core responsibility.
- Serve as active and visible ambassadors for WJA.
- Commit an average of 2–3 hours per week to board responsibilities.
- Commit to the 2-year term with a maximum of 3 terms.
Key Dates for the Nomination Cycle
Nominations Open: Mid-September - October
- Applications Reviewed: Late October
- Candidate Interviews: Early November
- Final Slate Announced: Mid November
- Voting Period: December
- New Board Announced: January
