WJA NY Metro | Responsible Jewelry Practice: Gold, with Christina T. Miller

Christina T. Miller, of Christina T. Miller Consulting and co-founder of Ethical Metalsmiths, navigates the complex world of gold and gold sourcing. What does “recycled” or “Fairmined” gold even mean? What are responsible jewelry practices regarding gold? What questions can we ask our vendors and suppliers? Bring your questions, big and small! Not sure where to begin responsible jewelry practices? This is the place!

About Christina T. Miller
Christina T. Miller | Founder, Christina T. Miller Consulting, LLC

Christina Tatiana Miller is a sustainable jewelry consultant providing education, guidance, and strategy, to help jewelers make lives better.

Miller focuses on: small and medium-sized companies in the jewelry and fashion industries, NGO's looking to connect directly with jewelers, educational programs, and artists looking to be leaders in positive social and environmental action. She is also a professional speaker, workshop leader, community organizer, project manager, mentor, change-maker and artist.

In 2018 Miller was awarded the WJA Carelle Grant for her work to help jewelers make a difference. With the grant she launched Better Without Mercury/Mejor Sin Mercurio. She co-founded Ethical Metalsmiths (EM) and lead the non-profit organization in various capacities for eleven years. Among many other
accomplishments, Miller helped secure the first ever multi-jeweler Fairmined gold purchase in the US. Fairmined gold is now readily available to jewelers through Hoover & Strong. Christina is also a metalsmith, and was the Assistant Professor of Jewelry and Metalsmithing at Millersville University, where she transformed the jewelry and metals curriculum to include responsible sourcing and entrepreneurship.
